Simple Repairs For Your Heater Problems
When your heating system has issues, you don’t necessarily need to replace the entire unit and buy a new one. Don’t fret for you can actually do some of the simple heater repairs yourself.
Here are heater repairs that are simple enough for you to handle.
Water Leaking
According to the Vice President of Research and Technology for Air Conditioning Contractors of America Glenn C. Hourahan, the drain line blockage is most likely the cause of the drain pan of the air-conditioning evaporator coil.
Different units have different severity levels of leaking. Either way, the simple solution is the elimination of the blockage. Use a long wire, like an unwound coat hanger, to clear the blockages near the mouth of the drain pipe. If this doesn’t solve the problem, use a hose and blast water into the drainpipe through the drain trap and pan. This should push all the accumulated dirt, allowing the evaporator to drain freely.
If the problem continues, Hourahan suggests calling for HVAC services.
Clogged Air Filters
Clogged air filters are also caused by dirt. To solve this issue, replace the air filters every few months. Otherwise, clean your air filters each month for maintenance and issue prevention.
Faulty Thermostat
If your heater doesn’t produce the set temperature, check the battery of the thermostat first. If the battery levels are low, replace it with a new battery. This works on most models.
If the issues don’t resolve after doing the suggested repair procedures mentioned above, that’s when you should call for professional assistance. It takes a professional, licensed, reputable HVAC company to give you the necessary services you need.
